Street Smart Training Founder Dago Carreon is an active detective with the Dallas Police Department for over twelve (12) years and assigned to the Gang Unit. He's also a Task Force Officer with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), assigned to the Violent Gang Task Force at the Texas Anti-Gang Center (TAG) in Irving, Texas for over five (5) years. Detective Carreon is an active member of the Texas Gang Investigators Association (TGIA) and California Gang Investigators Association (CGIA).
Over the course of his career, he has investigated a wide range of serious offenses, including firearms trafficking, narcotics distribution, murders, human smuggling, human trafficking, involving cartels, local, prison and transnational criminal street gangs. In 2022, Detective Carreon led a federal investigation into a transnational criminal street gang originating out of Honduras "Los Benjamins", which was subsequently placed on the Transnational Organized Crime (TOC) list due to its significant impact.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was awarded the Task Force Officer of the Year Award in 2023 for his exemplary work in combating violent gangs and organized crime. In 2023 Detective Carreon began intelligence gathering in North Texas on the transnational Venezuelan criminal street gang Tren de Aragua (TDA). Since these efforts Detective Carreon and members of his task force have uncovered the networks operations and lead the fight against TDA in North Texas. Detective Carreon has investigated numerous cases involving TDA such as human trafficking, aggravated robbery, and murder.
In 2024 Detective Carreon learned and taught alongside the award winning book author of Tren de Aragua, Ronna Risquez. Through his work with HSI and the Dallas Police Department, Detective Carreon has played a pivotal role in tackling complex criminal enterprises, demonstrating his expertise and dedication to law enforcement.
